People do things for their-own-reasons, not anybody else's.
Personal relationships, careers, campaigns, strikes, elections (watch out Teresa May!), even wars are not pursued because of the hard facts, the things that can be measured, but because of the attitudes and feelings of the people involved, and that's called MOTIVATION!
One Dictionary defines Motivation as "a reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way." Synonyms include motive, motivating force, incentive, stimulus etc.
Research identifies 6-Primary-Motivators each with a north and south pole, and money is just ONE of them.
Once satisfied, what was a prime motivator ceases to remain one (for the time being) and is substituted by one of the others (for the time being), hence, motivation is always dynamic!
So, the next time you want someone to do something (especially if you pay them to do it), make sure you discover and agree THEIR reasons (motivations) or don't be surprised if it doesn't get done to your satisfaction, or even at all (or they get fed up and leave)!
